Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Benefits experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Health benefit administration experience in a large, global organization.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with large group health plan or large employer health benefits administration, specifically self-insured business.
  • Experience managing prescription drug vendor.
  • Pharmacy benefit experience
  • Employee benefit communications and the review and distribution of relevant health insurance summary plan documents (SPDs) to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and jurisdictional benefit laws and requirements.
  • Experience articulating issues, risks, and proposed solutions, to all levels of employees and ability to explain complex systems and processes to audiences that may not be experts in the health/benefits field.
  • Workday experience (or similar HRIS)
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment.
  • Project management experience and/or skills including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, detailed planning, process management and documentation.
  • Applied experience with presentations to various stakeholders, including senior leadership using advanced Power Point and Excel skills

Responsibilities:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Benefits Consultant to join our Health Benefits team within Total Rewards. This highly visible role will be responsible for the design, benchmarking, compliance and daily management of certain medical plans and the prescription drug plan. This includes owning and maintaining the relationship between Wells Fargo and our medical/prescription drug benefit vendors.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the plan design and benchmarking to identify short term and long-term opportunities that would bring enhanced, competitive programs and offerings to the enterprise.
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique employee benefit challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, using industry data and internal stakeholder feedback, delivering solutions that are long term, large scale, and which require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking, coordination of highly complex activities, and guidance to others.
  • Implement any plan design changes or new programs/offerings, including managing vendor, senior management presentations and change management efforts.
  • Daily vendor oversight which includes confirming plans are administered correctly, plans are in compliance with all regulations, tracking of deliverables, leading independent audits, understanding vendor roadmaps and implications to plans and execute action plans to correct issues as necessary.
  • Accountable for ensuring regulatory, audit, and compliance processes for the Benefits Team are done in an efficient and effective manner, complying with national and regional standards as applicable.
  • Provides member support through answering/resolving employee inquiries, escalations and appeals, act as subject matter expert for plan interpretation from the Employee Service Center and vendors.
  • Measure and monitor the effectiveness of plan administration and customer service and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality.
  • Reviewing plan materials such as annual enrolment and summary plan descriptions
  • Engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise in the benefits function and serve as an expert advisor to leadership.
  • Independently resolve highly complex and sensitive issues and indirectly lead a team to meet business objectives within Benefits functional area.
  • Represents the Benefits Department and serves as subject matter expert (SME) or acts as project leader in projects that affect benefits delivery, cross department projects and on acquisition teams.
  • Collaborate and consult with Benefits peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues related to the Benefits programs and achieve business objectives.
