    Our client is a global construction company, recognised for undertaking some of the most significant projects across Australia. They play a lead role in urban development throughout Australia.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide strategic and commercial advice in respect of large scale and complex construction projects. You will need to be comfortable and confident to engage and deal with the project teams and management.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years’ post admission experience, having spent a significant amount of this time in the back-end construction/project delivery space. Ideally you will have worked in either a reputable firm or in-house legal team. Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active employee with strong communication skills who is keen to be part of a busy and dynamic in-house team. The role will require:

  • Construction related dispute resolution, including attending negotiations
  • Managing external counsel
  • Project delivery experience
  • Providing general construction advice in relation to emerging project issues and contract administration
  • Preparation of claims for expert determination, adjudication, arbitration and litigation
  • Assisting with the documentation on construction projects including preparing contracts and variations
  • Contributing to department know-how

In addition, you will have:

  • excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • excellent dispute resolution and contract administration skills;
  • a strong corporate acumen;
  • risk assessment and risk mitigation skills;
  • an ability to work on a team; and
  • a proven ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
