Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years of experience practicing construction law, preferably with a focus on renewable energy projects.
- Strong expertise in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, with a deep understanding of industry standards and best practices.
- Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice and support to construction teams, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
- Experience working on international projects and familiarity with applicable laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with project development teams to review and advise on legal aspects of project site selection, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
- Drafts, negotiates, and finalises engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts, ensuring alignment with project objectives and risk allocation strategies.
- Provides legal support for pre-construction activities, including land acquisition, zoning approvals, and environmental assessments.
- Advises on the structuring and negotiation of project financing arrangements.
- Conducts legal due diligence on project development opportunities, identifying and addressing legal risks and issues that may impact construction timelines or costs.
- Develops and implements standardised contract templates and processes to streamline the negotiation and execution of construction agreements.
- Liaises with external counsel and consultants to obtain specialised legal advice on construction-related matters, such as design defects, construction delays, and change orders.
- Participates in project risk workshops and assists in the development of risk mitigation strategies, including insurance coverage and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Reviews and advises on contractor qualifications, performance guarantees, and indemnification provisions to safeguard project interests.
- Collaborates with procurement teams to ensure compliance with supplier diversity requirements and ethical sourcing standards in construction contracts.
- Monitors and tracks changes in construction law and industry regulations, providing updates and training to internal stakeholders as necessary.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on construction contract interpretation and dispute resolution processes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation avoidance.
- Assists in the resolution of construction-related claims and disputes, working closely with project managers and external stakeholders to achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes.
- Supports the implementation of project management systems and tools to facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project teams and contractors.
- Conducts post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation strategies in future construction projects.
