Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred
- Current practicing certificate
- Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in construction, infrastructure, or engineering law
- Proven track record of negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts
- Strong understanding of construction law, procurement regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Experience working in-house at a construction company or law firm specializing in construction law is highly desirable
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and support on complex construction, infrastructure, and engineering projects, including contract negotiation, risk assessment and legal strategy.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including construction agreements, procurement contracts, and joint venture agreements.
- Stay updated on legal developments and regulatory changes impacting the construction and infrastructure industry, and provide proactive advice to the business.
- Manage external legal counsel effectively, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of legal services.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project teams, finance, procurement, and other departments to address legal issues and achieve project objectives.
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with projects and implement strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Develop and implement company policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure legal compliance and risk management across the organization.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal matters relevant to their areas of responsibility.
- Conduct due diligence reviews and assessments for potential projects, acquisitions, and partnerships.
- Support the General Counsel in advising senior management on legal matters and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and manage legal budgets and expenditures, ensuring efficient use of resources.
