QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law; admission to practice law in Australia required.
- Minimum of 6 + years of experience practicing law, with a focus on front-end construction matters in the renewable energy sector preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction law, contract law, and project finance principles, with demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex agreements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate legal risks while achieving business objectives.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in providing legal guidance and support for all front-end construction activities related to renewable energy projects. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and project teams to ensure compliance with legal requirements, mitigate risks, and drive successful project execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide expert legal advice and support on all aspects of front-end construction activities, including project development, procurement, contracting, and risk management.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of construction-related agreements, including EPC contracts, supply agreements, contractor agreements, and subcontracts.
- Conduct legal due diligence and risk assessments for project sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, land use restrictions, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to address legal issues and challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage external legal counsel and consultants as needed, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of legal services and expertise.
- Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments impacting the renewable energy industry, providing proactive advice and recommendations to senior management.
- Develop and maintain standard contract templates, policies, and procedures for front-end construction activities, promoting consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Participate in project meetings, workshops, and negotiations to represent the legal perspective and advocate for the company’s interests.
- Support dispute resolution and claims management efforts related to front-end construction activities, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation via external counsel as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, risk management, and compliance, to ensure alignment and integration of legal requirements and objectives.
