As a Legal Counsel working in the Operational Support team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role in future success of the business in providing strategic legal counsel in matters of corporate and commercial law. Supporting large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to provide strategic legal advisory and support on day-to-day activities and operations of the company (Pomerleau and its subsidiaries).

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Prepare, review, analyze, comment on and negotiate different types of contracts (including various types of construction contracts, subcontracting, services, etc. ;)
- Advise project team members on various legal issues;
- Maintaining and updating the bank of models and certain corporate documents of the company;
- Review, analyze and comment on documentation in the context of public calls for tenders, including in particular for alternative mode projects;
- Answer legal questions, support and support members of the company assigned to operations on the company’s various projects;
- Coordinate and collaborate with external legal advisors;
THIS ROLE COULD BE FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in law and be a member of the Quebec Bar (member of a bar in another Canadian province will be considered an asset);
- Around 5-8 years of experience in commercial construction law and corporate law;
- Relevant experience in alternative construction projects including PPPs (will be considered an asset);
- Working knowledge of the construction industry;
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills;
- Have strong legal argumentation skills, both written and verbal;
- Fluency in French and English;
- Openness to traveling occasionally to different regions of Canada where work-related representations will be required.
