REQUIREMENTS:

  • Law Degree
  • At least 5 years of work experience, of which at least 2 years at a reputable law firm or company
  • Prior employment and labour law experience, including transactional experience
  • Experience with multijurisdictional, cross border employment transactions is advantageous
  • Sound knowledge of employment law
  • Strong analytical capability, including during time critical periods
  • Fluent professional English both written and spoken
  • Excellent legal drafting skills
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing business needs as well as being independently proactive in generating action plans and structure
  • Excellent execution and coordinating skills
  • Pro-active and pragmatic attitude
  • Project management and / or transformation experience
  • Ability to travel

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

In your role as the company’s in-house senior labour relations counsel, you will be responsible for directing and overseeing Wizz Air’s global labour strategic campaigns as well as managing the legal aspects of the company’s HR functions (including payroll and compliance, recruitment, organizational development and compensation and benefits). You will lead or coordinate with management, researchers, attorneys, communicators and other staff in the development and execution of Wizz Air’s labour relations strategy. The Senior Legal Manager – Labour Relations will report to the Head of Legal, General Counsel with dotted line reporting to the Corporate and ESG officer and will partner with members of the legal and HR teams. The Senior Legal Manager – Labour Relations will work cross functionally with important stakeholders of the Wizz Air Group, including the senior executive team on such matters as complex HR transactions, contract drafting and negotiation, and other key business initiatives. You will work on complex, high profile and international issues and will give pragmatic legal advice to drive Wizz Air’s business strategy and impressive expansion plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafting and reviewing contracts of employment, dismissal guidelines, employment and labour policies.
  • Provide support to People and Operations Departments to assess and accommodate labour relations related needs
  • Establish framework for “internal CBA” negotiations and alignment with the People Council.
  • Work closely with regional, national, and local managers to identify strategic HR needs and develop the necessary response
  • Collect and maintain source data and materials needed to support responsive action, including litigation.
  • Summarize data and developments for a diverse set of audiences including regulators, allies, policymakers, and the media.
  • Formulate a plan for “strategic” or “impact” litigation and manage employment related litigation
  • Managing internal know-how
  • Design and transform processes regarding HR and labour relation processes
  • Monitoring employment and labour relations laws and regulations
  • Transform, develop and enforce compliance, training and policies
  • Identify potential legal risk, constraints and risk mitigation mechanisms
  • Project management and collaboration across functions
  • Manage and instruct external legal counsels and related budgets
  • The role will entail approximately 1-2 days of international travel per month
