Description:
$120,000 - $130,000+SUPER
Are you a seasoned legal professional with a passion for ensuring compliance and upholding the integrity of legislation? We are currently seeking a dedicated Senior Legal Officer to join a dynamic team and play a key role in providing accurate and timely legal advice on the interpretation and implementation of legislations.
The Senior Legal Officer provides legal and policy advice and services to internal stakeholders to meet government obligations and ensure compliance with the law.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or JD) from a recognized institution.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications Law Society of NSW or equivalent Practicing Certificate.
- Experience practicing as a legal officer in government or private legal practice.
- Proven experience as a legal practitioner, preferably in a regulatory or compliance environment.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislations and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on the interpretation and application of relevant legislations.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to support the advice and services provided by the Legal Business Unit.
- Manage legal matters systematically to ensure electronic and physical file documentation is up-to-date, accurate and complete.
- Prepare professional correspondence, research reports, briefing notes, submissions and other documents as required.
- Review and analyze briefs of evidence to contribute to the management of compliance and enforcement matters.
- Conduct thorough legal research to support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of compliance strategies.
- Represent the organization in legal proceedings when necessary.
