Senior Localisation & Perception Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Localisation & Perception Engineer to join a global engineering and manufacturing leader in tech that does cool stuff that matters.
In this role you will be assisting in the deployment and development of localisation and perception systems, sensors installation and configuration, coordinating with test engineering, and on-vehicle integration, testing, and tuning. Hexagon A&P’s Autonomous Systems Team is responsible for developing and deploying software to enable our customers to fully utilise their autonomous vehicle’s hardware.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline
• 5-8+ years experience of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with localisation and/or perception technologies and sensors
• Demonstrated experience of modern C++ software development for deployment to an embedded Linux environment
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and scripting

NICE-TO-HAVE:

• Understanding of localisation, robotics, and perception algorithms and methods
• Experience with Novatel or Ublox GNSS sensors

As a Senior Localisation & Perception Engineer, you will:

• Develop autonomous vehicles for mining haulage vehicles
• Up to once per month, take trips to customer mine site, FIFO, for on-vehicle deployment, testing, and tuning of our localisation, perception and autonomy systems
• Be the key engineer in developing, integrating, and delivering a full solution that seamlessly integrates Hexagon technologies, localisation and perception systems, autonomy, and site systems
• Coordinate and collaborate closely with local development teams and remote development teams in the United States and Canada
• Participate in designing algorithms for complex localisation and perception vehicle systems
• Participate in design and gate reviews
• Assist with autonomous vehicle application development using C++, Python, MATLAB, and Simulink
• Demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, and diagrams to support problem analysis
• Assist with localisation and perception algorithms integration into our proprietary autonomy stack
• Contribute to customer documentation and training material for various software applications
• Create test instruction
• Support field testing and troubleshooting of products by field technicians
• Perform regular final checks of on-vehicle testing of software releases, analysis of vehicle control behaviour
• Occasional on-vehicle software/hardware integration, debugging, and troubleshooting
• Minimal international travel may be required
