The Senior Manager, Capability Development (BBU) is the strategic leader of the Capability Development team, with a mandate to build, innovate, and enable sales and marketing capabilities. The Senior Manager partners across the Biopharmaceutical Business Unit (BBU) to enhance marketing capabilities, including brand strategic planning and digital excellence, as well as sales capabilities, including scientific knowledge, selling skills, customer engagement and performance coaching, to support the launch of new products and ensure continued commercial success throughout a product’s life cycle.
The BBU Capability Development team is a group of learning and performance experts focused on improving and empowering field force excellence within our Biopharmaceuticals Business Unit. The team is encouraged to assess, design, measure, and partner on initiatives to optimize BBU field force excellence, capabilities, and performance. Our ambition is to actively develop the performance and potential of ourselves and others. We believe in optimizing learning opportunities beyond the traditional workshop format, embracinnew technologieses, and strive to integrate a micro-learning approach that will enable our BBU sales teams to learn in the flow of work.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • At least 10 years of commercial pharmaceutical (marketing and sales) preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Successful track record in sales training, sales management, or leading a Learning and Development team
  • Experience & training in Adult Learning Principles, Organisational Change, and/or Performance Based Learning Approaches a strong asset
  • Expertise in crafting strategy and planning to meet multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated understanding of a marketing manager’s role, expectations, and skills required to succeed
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills, specifically the ability to present and communicate effectively amongst diverse groups as well as in one-on-one sessions
  • Proven conceptual and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to develop, facilitate and orchestrate learning experiences using the principles of adult learning
  • Experience in curriculum design, delivery, and measurement
  • Bilingualism a strong asset
  • Some travel is required

Responsibilities:

  • Exceptional leadership and development of a hard-working team of Capability Development Managers who are passionate about accelerating learning to improve performance.
  • Drive BBU Marketing & Sales Capability Development vision and strategy through partnership with senior leaders across the business.
  • Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive marketing capability programs, including training and skill development to empower the cross-functional marketing team with the tools and knowledge needed to excel in their roles and drive the organization’s marketing objectives effectively.
  • Collaborate with Senior Manager, Capability Development (OBU) on enterprise-wide initiatives and leverage best practices across BBU & OBU.
  • Champion and grow modern learning approaches applying emerging technologies and new learning methodologies.
  • Embed Performance Partnership Framework across team to enhance strategic learning capabilities and a continuous improvement attitude (Uncover and Assess; Design and Develop; Implement and Evaluate; Sustain and Learn).
  • Be the Performance Partner to Sr Sales Leaders as it relates to first-line sales manager learning curriculum and coaching skills.
  • Partner globally to align and deliver on initiatives across therapeutic areas and above brand skills and capabilities for marketing and sales.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mentality by using in-house resources and run third party suppliers as appropriate.
  • Ensure projects follow policy and compliance guidelines for all learning content.
  • Responsible for department budget.
  • Model AZ values and behaviors consistent with organizational culture.
