Senior Manager – Communications

at  South African National Parks

A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Senior Manager: Communication in Cape Region for a Fixed-term contract of five years. The primary responsibilities will be planning and executing internal and external communications activities for the Cape Region. The incumbent will report to the SANParks Head of Communications and Spokesperson.

REQUIREMENTS

• B-Degree or equivalent in Journalism/Communication Science and Media Studies/Public Relations.
• Minimum of five (5) to six (7) years in corporate communications coordinating media liaison, events management, web content, public relations and social media which must include 5 years in a management role
• Some background in tourism and conservation practices.
• Knowledge of the Public Access to Information Act (PAIA), Public Relations Code of Ethics and relevant industry-related legislation.
• Knowledge and Skills in Media Relations principles and practice.
• Certificate in Web Management and Digital Marketing.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Excellent Computer Skills.
• Events Management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be available on weekends, public holidays and extended hours.
• Be willing to travel extensively, must be able to work without supervision, with strong attention to detail.
• Be eloquent and comfortable with conducting print, broadcast and TV interviews.
• Ability to improve awareness and reputation of SANParks, Cape Region through social media and regional forums.
• Be able to create, write, edit and publish content for Parks in the Cape Region.
