Tetra Tech International Development Europe is Tetra Tech’s European business unit focused on International Development. We are based in London with offices in Kenya, Nigeria, Poland, and the Netherlands. We deliver international development programmes focused on economic growth, governance and justice/security, and infrastructure, for clients such as the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the United Nations, the European Union, the European Investment Bank and other donors and funding agencies. We also have a strong in-house Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Practice consisting of 35 evaluators, statisticians, economists, social scientists, and research managers.

APTITUDE AND SKILLS:

  • Extensive current knowledge of the FCDO tender landscape and process.
  • Demonstrable ability to position effectively for forthcoming tenders.
  • Sound commercial judgement and an ability to understand Tetra Tech’s financial model.
  • Teamwork and an ability to work in a fluid environment with multiple senior stakeholders and manage bid resources.
  • Excellent written English.
  • Strong Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant software packages
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to keep multiple balls in the air at the same time and manage a portfolio of pursuits.
  • Decision-making ability and the ability to articulate decisions effectively.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a proven track record of extensive experience in the International Development sector, preferably in Africa and Asia.
  • Prior knowledge of the UK development market, the firms and NGOs participating in it and FCDO as a client.
  • A record of successful delivery of winning bids to FCDO.
  • Additional expertise in preparing successful tenders for other donors, particularly multi-laterals, European Commission donor agencies and national donor agencies in Europe, is a considerable advantage.
  • Additional experience in delivering programmes for FCDO and other donors would be a considerable advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and screen appropriate tender opportunities in FCDO and European donor markets for the EGI practice.
  • Position for these tenders by negotiating appropriate consortium arrangements and managing prospective personnel.
  • Manage the bid delivery process, collaborating with a team of writers and domain experts from the wider EGI team.
  • Function as quality assurance on the bidding process and produce written sections and/or commercial propositions where required.
  • Ensure all proposed tenders are economically viable within the Tetra Tech model.
  • Consult within the firm and with the wider Business Development practice to ensure that the bidding process is optimised and lessons are shared broadly within the company.
  • Capture and disseminate lessons learned from pursuits.
    There will also be opportunities to be involved in the delivery of other elements of our work, including interim delivery of new and ongoing work, contributing to a wider practice strategy
