Description:

High Tide Inc. is a dynamic cannabis retail and distribution company. We are seeking a versatile Sr. Human Resources Manager, Employee Relations. Under the direction of the Vice President, Human Resources, the Sr. Human Resources Manager, Employee Relations is primarily responsible for organizing, controlling, and evaluating day to day tasks of the human resources department. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for overseeing personnel management, including wage increases, promotions, conducting investigations and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies. This position will also determine staffing requirements and oversee the retail internal promotion process.

A Day in the Life:

  • Plan, organize, execute day to day activities of the HR department with a team of HR Generalists and HR/Payroll administrator.
  • Oversee staffing, New store openings and HR Operations, Performance Mgmt, Investigations, Training, Onboarding, Employee relations, including wage increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies.
  • Determine staffing requirements and oversee the retail internal promotion process for retail cannabis and accessories distribution business.
  • Approve vacation requests and monitor employee scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage.
  • Develop performance goals, metrics, and targets that are consistent with company goals.
  • Administer progressive disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures and coach team members of HR team on execution of HR tasks.
  • Plan human resources requirements in conjunction with other departmental managers.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide employees with performance feedback.
  • Determine areas of improvement for HR employees, providing additional training as needed.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, and resolve any conflicts that arise among staff in the department.
  • Ensure employees adhere to all health and safety regulations, including company policies.
  • Develop strategic performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals.
  • Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations.
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations.
  • Develop employee training, ensuring that all applicable compliance requirements are met for retail cannabis business in Canada across all provinces.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to managers and employees on key workplace matters such as performance management, difficult conversations, employee relations, and employee development.
  • Monitor assigned payroll activities and program components for the purpose of ensuring effective department functioning, coordinating activities, and compliance with established financial, legal, and administrative requirements.
  • Suggest process improvements as and when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Retail industry experience
  • Degree or diploma in business administration, human resources management, or a related field required.
  • MBA/CPHR/SHRM – SCP preferred.
  • Minimum of (9-10) years of progressive HR management work experience in a human resources specialist or generalist position.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strategic objectives for HR and the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage HR core processes such as talent management, succession planning, and employee relations.
  • Able to make sound business decisions and evidence-based recommendations to senior management.
  • Vibrant and Charismatic leader, Great communicator and possess effective coaching skills.
  • Sound knowledge of employment standards and other applicable legislations across all provinces of Canada and USA.
  • Sound understanding of public company HR process, payroll and benefits
  • Knowledge of Smartsheet an asset.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Able to interpret and implement personnel related legislation.
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of labor laws.
