We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Chief of Staff South Asia Governance Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in the financial services industry, with a sound understanding of the Wealth and Personal Banking business at HSBC
  • Previous experience of working in a Business Management or Chief of Staff role, or in a Front-Line area (in Products, Segments, Channels or overall business leadership)
  • Display effective collaboration skills and be able to influence and work effectively with senior stakeholders across functions
  • Focus on outcomes and solution-oriented
  • Able to work in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen capacity to process complex information and synthesise key themes and issues swiftly and accurately
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with outstanding attention to detail

  • Able to approach ambiguous problems strategically and translate concepts into actionable plans to drive business results
  • Be adaptable, resilient and passionate about taking a “hands-on” approach to solving problems and working as part of a team
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)

  • Demonstrate leadership on Regulatory & Compliance matters
  • Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with section B.1.2 of the Group Operations FI

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)

  • Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards;
  • Implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators; and
  • Promote a strong compliance cultur

Responsibilities:

  • Senior member of the Governance team, which is one of the three sub-teams within South Asia Chief of Staff, alongside Strategy and Business Management; the Governance team drives all governance, office management and strategic calendar management, as well as partners with regional and global functions to drive regional initiatives in several areas including people, talent, communications, ESG, and others. The role holder is one out of three members of the Governance team and will have main responsibilities as per below, working closely with the other teams inside the CoS construct, as well as with regional and global partners, and all WPB Markets in the region
  • Drive overall governance activities for the Chief of Staff office by planning and managing meetings, creating meeting packs, taking accurate and clear minutes and ensuring that actions are circulated in a timely manner and appropriate follow-up takes place
  • Take a lead role in the co-ordination and organization of Chief of Staff activities such as Off-sites, management meetings and other events required by the WPB South Asia Head
  • Co-ordinate the drafting/support the creation of Regional / Group governance forum papers (e.g. CEO Performance Management Meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, Market Check-ins) and strategic & thematic papers, in partnership with the other CoS teams
  • Develop, maintain and support the reporting on the scorecard for the WPB South Asia Head and support the cascade of scorecards for the Market Heads reporting to the WPB South Asia Asia Head
  • Manage governance and other strategic performance dashboards; liaising with the various business functions and ensuring the supporting materials are reviewed and aligned with overall Group / Market and/or regional messages and strategic direction
  • Support communications activities, working alongside communications professionals to create briefings for internal and external events, Town Halls and newsletters
  • Lead and coach junior members of the Chief of Staff team, taking an active role in managing interns and graduates within the team
  • Manage team operational activity including business continuity planning and strategic diary management for the WPB South Asia Head
  • Other ad-hoc requests arising from the business needs, including conducting research as needed and create recommendations for action
  • Act as deputy for the Head of Governance, WPB South Asia Chief of Staff Office
