Description:

The Hardware Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing a variety of aspects including scheduling, engaging their team with miscellaneous projects and work techniques, directing design function and having authority with resource allocation.

General Responsibilities

  • Manages the plan, design and execution policies and methods regarding hardware design engineering operation and strategy implementation and control for maximizing current and future procedures
  • Manages a group of design engineers engaged in a variety of hardware engineering activities
  • Responsible for all phases of project including; planning and control, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and results
  • Manages the training of reliability standards pertaining to the materials and techniques used in design and production
  • Manages a technical design function that will search for electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry
  • Manages and controls a mechanical system and equipment design function

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

Additional job specific Responsibilities and Skills required for The Video Telematics HW Manager include:
Leading all ODM development and sustaining activities for the Video Telematics Dashcam products. This includes oversight of weekly meetings, issues tracking, design peer reviews, ECO management, NPI logistics, and embedded software planning and deployment.
Managing ongoing product certification and homologation efforts. Work with our 3rd party test services to obtain quotations, seek approvals and then monitor progress to completion.
Interface with Product and Operations leadership to support ongoing Dashcam development and manufacturing support. Must have background in high volume manufacturing of wireless communications electronics assemblies.
Engage with key customers on existing product support as well as new product definition and requirements. Must be able to transform customer and Product requirements into RFP documents for ODM competitive bidding.
Provide technical expertise and oversight for all hardware designs. Establish and maintain strong relationships with our Cellular Modem integrators, key chipset, MCU/CPU, component manufacturers, and other 3rd party design and technology partners.
