Supports the research and development of quantitative risk modeling methodologies and related strategies in support of the management of risks arising from business/group portfolios and products. Applies knowledge of analytics algorithms and technologies to develop forward looking models and analytic solutions that ensure risks are properly identified, understood and risk related strategies are enabled. Summarizes statistical findings, draws business conclusions, and presents actionable business recommendations used in the management of risks and related activities e.g. associated internal controls; enterprise-wide stress testing and scenario analysis; capital modelling; valuations. Drives innovation through the development of data products that can be leveraged across the organization and establishes best practices as well influences data governance guidelines and policies. May specialize in one or more risk categories e.g. Credit Risk, Market Risk, Interest Rate Risk, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Data preparation, data analysis, and statistical tool sets including but not limited to R, Python, SQL, SAS.
  • Relevant experience in risk, capital, and/or treasury management is preferred.
  • A professional designation in Finance or Risk management is preferred.
  • Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge.

Applies mathematical and statistical methods to financial and risk management problems (e.g. internal controls; enterprise-wide stress testing and scenario analysis; capital modelling; valuations). Conducts research and creates tools that use data to develop scenario-based planning and implements complex mathematical models to help the business make better financial and financial decisions (e.g. investments, pricing, etc.), drive innovation and minimize the impact of uncertainty.

  • Develops quantitative risk models for an assigned portfolio e.g. fixed income, corporate credit and loans.
  • Conducts research and develops tools that use data to make better financial decisions; such as: investments, pricing, etc.
  • Applies knowledge of risk assessment and controls along with extensive understanding of industry compliance standards and regulations.
  • Identifies ways of mitigating potential risks; recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Documents data flow, systems and processes to improve the design, implementation and management of business/group processes.
  • Conducts quantitative research in risks across strategies and portfolios.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Applies scripting/programming skills to assemble various types of source data (unstructured, semi-structured, and structured) into well-prepared datasets with multiple levels of granularities (e.g., demographics, customers, products, transactions).
  • Develops agreed analytical solution by applying suitable statistical techniques (e.g., A/B testing, prototype solutions, mathematical models, algorithms, machine learning, artificial intelligence) to test, verify, refine hypotheses.
  • Summarizes statistical findings and draws conclusions and presents actionable business recommendations. Presents findings & recommendations in a simple, clear way to drive action.
  • Develops an expert understanding of business/group challenges.

  • May consult to or serve on various committees and task forces.
  • Oversees the development and delivery of tools and training reporting tools and self-serve analytics by non-analytical end users.
