Description:

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

As a Senior Manager in the Platforms function within IT Solutions, you will lead a new and vital area for Arla that helps us grow and scale our custom cloud native solutions. You will create and run a function that can keep up with or exceed the business needs, and work with our architects and external partners to support and enable Arla’s strategic use of cloud native and other tools to develop and deploy our “tailormade” solutions.
This new area, like many in Arla, depends on great people. Your task, is to make the business case, vision and purpose of the platform engineering area and, once you have got it approved, build a team of skilled and passionate people and empower them to ensure our success in this area.
Secondly, in this role you will collaborate with colleagues across IT and the wider organisation to understand our goals, then help set the foundation to achieve them and finally deliver success every day through secure, stable and robust platform engineering. There are 9 Agile Release Trains (ART’s) all delivering cloud native solutions that will benefit from your function’s work in delivering faster, more effectively and in a way that focuses on the full solution lifecycle.
Overtime this area will grow and integrate in our IT organisation and the developer experience that your team builds, runs and maintains should be the only tool/environment our software development teams need to use to deliver industry leading solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • People leadership – both leading leaders and also having the direct people management responsibilities over time
  • Strategy and business case development and execution
  • Capability review and planning
  • Budget responsibility

To succeed in this role, we imagine that you have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related degree. Alternatively significant work experience in a similar or related field.

  • A technical background with experience in cloud computing platforms and system scalability would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing infrastructure and DevOps practices from the ground up. In addition, you have experience with Agile, SAFe, and Scrum methodologies.
  • Experienced in CI/CD practices and developer experience tools.
  • Excellent strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate embodies a dynamic personality that thrives on a “fail fast” and “fail forward” approach, demonstrating an exceptional capacity to learn swiftly. You are comfortable navigating the unknown, proactively seeking solutions, and making prompt decisions. Your adaptability and collaborative spirit is matched by a resilience that allows them to remain steadfast in the face of resistance. In addition, you possess exceptional communication and leadership abilities and thrive in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment.
