ABOUT THE ROLE

Part of the Department of Enterprise, Industry and Trade cluster, Create NSW is focused on growing and supporting the arts, culture and creative industries in NSW for everyone to enjoy.
Underpinning our work is the NSW Government’s 10-year arts, culture and creative industries policy, Creative Communities, which recognises the unique place of the sector in NSW and places culture at the heart of the state.
Creative Communities is grounded in five guiding principles that prioritises First Nations culture and provides a framework with a series of commitments that will inform Create NSW’s work for the next decade to support the arts, culture and creative industries to flourish and enhance the lives of everyone in NSW.
At Create NSW, we are committed to developing, empowering and strengthening arts, screen, music, culture and the creative industries in our state. We believe the work created by artists and creatives is essential to community wellbeing, and supporting the sector not only enriches the lives of all those who live in NSW but adds significant stimulus to the economy. Through our funding and cultural infrastructure programs, we work to embed arts in the everyday and deliver new, innovative and exciting arts and cultural services and experiences for the people of NSW. Together we can build a future where creativity flourishes, communities thrive, and culture lies at the heart of our state’s identity.
Sound NSW is a new State Government initiative to grow and support the contemporary music industry.
The Senior Manager, Policy and Projects (Sound NSW) leads a team responsible for overseeing the implementation a 10-year contemporary music strategy and a suite of policies and projects aimed to support the growth and development of contemporary music in NSW. The role works closely with the Head of Sound NSW and will develop and deliver engagement and consultation processes to inform a range of policies and strategies for Sound NSW and the NSW Government.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

This will include undertaking research, analysis and review of complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based options and implementation strategies that align with Government priorities
  • Lead the development of a suite of policies and strategies aimed to drive growth in the specific areas of the contemporary music industry including minimum artist fee policies, procurement policies and venue-specific policies.
  • Utilise your extensive networks to build and maintain strong, productive and collaborative working relationships, and support consultations and partnerships with music stakeholders (including Creative Australia and Music Australia), to facilitate collaboration and engagement, foster support, measure impact and ultimately optimise policy outcomes
  • Provie accurate and timely advice to the Deputy Secretary, Secretary and the Minister for the Arts, in the form of briefs, House Folder Notes, Budget Estimates notes, speeches, meeting briefs, budget information, Cabinet minutes and other legislative and parliamentary matters, as required.
