KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Stations Vice President, the Senior Manager will provide project management to one of the Smart Track Stations on the GO Expansion Program.
This position manages a team of Metrolinx staff, consultants and contractors to deliver capital railway station infrastructure projects encompassing the planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases, and in accordance with approved timelines, budget and project deliverables.
They will utilise their previous experience to drive a culture of best practice for health, safety, wellbeing, and quality.
WHAT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED?
- Significant project management experience on large scale projects
- Demonstrates progressive experience in engineering and project management services associated with the planning, design, and construction of stations or similar large infrastructure projects.
- Experience leading a team of technical professionals.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the theories, principles and practices of civil design and construction, skill and proficiency in broad phases of engineering application.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of architecture, urban planning, engineering design and their
application to the construction of infrastructure, facilities, and related works.
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing the competing objectives of many external and internal stakeholders.
- Must understand key performance indicator monitoring and engagement, directly linked to monthly measurement criteria established.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills and experience with vendor management to manage development and delivery of externally provided products and services.
- Sound commercial and business acumen, with experience managing complex negotiations for
construction projects to align with overall project objectives
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience managing a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including municipalities and third‐party utility providers
Responsibilities:
- Lead the developing project delivery strategies while providing overall administrative and technical leadership and oversight to capital projects consisting of multiple capital corridor infrastructure projects to ensure consistency and coordination of efforts and successful completion of the program.
- Integrates corporate requirements, commitments and initiatives into projects, including design requirements, environmental assessment conditions, community and municipal commitments, Passenger Charter, design excellence, and property acquisition conditions.
- Collaborate with other Metrolinx stakeholders to incorporate requirements, and ensure projects within CPG are implemented consistently, efficiently, safely, and in a coordinated manner.
- Oversee consultants and contractors in the delivery of scope of work, as defined in respective contracts, ensuring that corrective action and escalation is initiated when necessary.
- Manage project scope/requirements changes; handles change orders with contractors, including negotiating, processing and assessing cost and schedule impacts; ensures all are clearly identified and approved before progressing, and ensuring contract documents reflect addendums issued
