Description:

SENIOR MARINE OPERATIONS MANAGER

SUMMARY: Metals and Minerals Inspectors visit client facilities, including barges and ships, shore tanks, railcars, and tank trucks for quantity surveys of a variety of commodities including inspection and collects samples for laboratory analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Draft Surveys: Conduct thorough draft surveys on vessels to accurately measure and assess their drafts at various points, including fore, mid-ship, and aft.
Cargo Weight Verification: Verify the weight of cargo on board by analyzing draft readings, weight calculations, and other relevant data.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that vessels comply with international and local maritime regulations regarding load line, stability, and safety requirements.
Documentation: Prepare detailed survey reports, including draft survey calculations, findings, and recommendations. Maintain accurate records of all survey activities.
Communication: Collaborate with ship captains, port authorities, and shipping agents to communicate survey results, address concerns, and provide guidance on necessary adjustments.
Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of survey equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks associated with cargo loading, weight distribution, and vessel stability. Provide recommendations to mitigate risks and improve safety.
Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, shipping companies, and other stakeholders. Address client inquiries and provide professional guidance on draft survey matters.
Client Relations: Oversee, train and coordinate a team of surveyors. To Liaise with all of the Operations Group to provide additional resources and technical support.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field or, High school diploma or general education development certificate (GED). Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and associated governmental regulations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license required.
