B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, a mine under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 860,000 and 940,000 ounces in 2024.

DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Five (5) years’ experience in mechanical engineering, within the mining industry including two (2) years of experience in overseeing the work of Engineers in Training (EIT) and engineering technologist level staff;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng);
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and membership in the Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist or ability to obtain same. Professional registration is mandatory; and
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical equipment and systems used in gold milling, grinding, hydro-metallurgy, pyro-metallurgy, and associated processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, install and maintain mechanical equipment used at the Goose Site. Including crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps, and various other machinery critical to the extraction and processing of gold ore;
  • Lead projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency, productivity, and reliability of mechanical equipment used at the Goose Site;
  • Provide expert troubleshooting support for mechanical systems, including milling and grinding equipment (Ball and SAG Mills), hydro-cyclones, gravity separation units, flotation cells, CCDs, thickeners, electric and gas-fired furnaces;
  • Identify bottlenecks within processing plant and develop innovative solutions to optimize throughput, improve yield, and enhance overall performance;
  • Utilize engineering principles and analytical tools to optimize mechanical processes, minimize downtime, and mitigate operational risks;
  • Leverage industrial software tools such as AutoPipe, Fluid-Flow, Star CCM+, Abaqus, ANSYS, Inventor, Solid Edge, and Solidworks to model, simulate, and analyze engineering challenges;
  • Ensure all mechanical systems and components adhere to relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and B2Gold’s safety protocols;
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in mechanical design, equipment reliability, maintenance strategies, and operational processes; and
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to Engineers in Training and technicians to develop their skills and competencies in mechanical engineering principles and practices.
