Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a passion for renewable energy who has a relevant engineering degree. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of multi-megawatt wind turbine technology and industry practices, and a demonstrated track record of delivering high quality assessments in the renewable energy industry but we will also consider candidates who have relevant transferable skills from other industries.

The principal responsibility of this post is leading the delivery of technical tasks such as:

  • Technology and supplier assessments for onshore and offshore multi-megawatt wind turbines and other renewable energy technologies
  • Developing contract and technical requirement specifications for wind turbine supply and wind farm engineering, procurement and construction contracts
  • Evaluation of tenders and negotiation for such contracts
  • Inspecting, evaluating and reporting on the completion status and quality of multi-megawatt wind turbines on sites during construction and operation
  • Advising on risk and interface management
  • Evaluating and providing input to Basis of Design and Front End Engineering Design studies
  • Developing assessment tools to support technical and risk evaluation
  • Preparation of high quality technical reports for issue to clients
  • Leading and/or participating in client calls and meetings

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting construction and safety management, and ensuring that contractual requirements are fulfilled through a combination of site presence, inspections and document reviews
  • Advising on mechanical engineering aspects of wind turbines and other renewable energy technologies
  • Management of projects and work packages to meet quality, time and budgetary objectives
  • Client-facing business development and project management
  • Preparing proposals, cost estimates and commercial terms for Wood’s commissions

Supporting responsibilities of the post will include:

  • Witnessing inspections and tests, with occasional site engineer assignments
  • Supporting development and implementation of management processes
  • Supporting team development, including professional mentoring
  • Assisting with the development and expansion of long-term client relationships
