We are a high functioning, multidisciplinary project team of project managers, project engineers, specialists, technologists, 3D CAD designers, and supporting staff. Locally we specialize in mid-sized sustaining and new capital projects, however, are involved in projects for our clients of a wide range and scale in our region and across Canada and the globe.
The position will report directly to the local Mechanical Staff Manager. Our Senior Mechanical Engineers are fundamental to supporting our project teams. They lead and work within multidiscipline teams centered locally in the Thunder Bay office or in collaboration with complimentary offices spanning locations across the company.

Our work spans varied market sectors typically with focus on:

  • Mining and Mineral Processing
  • Heavy Industrial Facilities
  • Remote Community Water Treatment and Power Generation
  • Energy Utilities and,
  • Municipal Infrastructure

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 10 years professional engineering work experience in a related field
  • Current, practicing registration as Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers of Ontario, or eligibility for practicing registration
  • Experience within all major project phases including Scoping, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, Detailed Design, Commissioning, Field Engineering, Contract Administration and Construction Support
  • Specific engineering experience such as mining, mineral processing, materials handling, industrial plant and machinery layout and integration, mine hoisting, ventilation, and dewatering and/or NI 43-101 compliant studies are considered an asset
  • Graduate of a Canadian accredited mechanical engineering degree program, or other education acceptable to Provincial Professional Engineering Licensing Associations.

Responsibilities:

  • Trusted to take professional and technical responsibility for their work, and the work of team members working under their direct supervision.
  • Directs and coordinated the activities of project team members and supervises complex engineering tasks related to major projects.
  • Responsible to define the appropriate design criteria for the project with direct coordination with the client.
  • Technical scope varies based on project rosters and can include:
  • Industrial process improvements, layouts, equipment integration, Fluid/slurry pumping and piping, solid and bulk material handling, conveying, crushing, dust collections, chutes, etc.
  • Ownership of, or input to PFD and P&IDs
  • Engage with a team of 3D CAD designers to facilitate appropriate 3D models and designs.
  • Trusted to develop or provide sound input to project scope definition, execution/methodology, planning and resource requirements based on experience level
  • Works as a mentor to facilitate development and group of junior staff.
  • Follows established internal quality control and assurance procedures, best practices, and standards, however, is also encouraged to provide input to continuous improvements
