The department Mechanical Architecture & System Design under the unit Complete Vehicle has the responsibility to coordinate mechanical and geometric system integration of complete cars and platforms. The car is divided into seven blocks, each one under the responsibility of a Block Leader. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Integration Engineer to join the Front & Rear group.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • You have a technical education on MSc or BSc level or equivalent.
  • You have basic knowledge of product development processes within automotive.
  • You have proven ability to coordinate cross functional teams and meetings within different areas.
  • You have experience of working with Microsoft office.
  • You need to be fluent in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Mechanical Integration Engineer you will lead and facilitate the concept development in your area of the car in the later part of the concept phase, and further integrate and mature design solutions into the engineering phase. You will balance the geometric requirements and solutions from various stakeholders, including Attributes, Product Design and Manufacturing to an agreed and well-functioning car from a Complete Vehicle perspective. This crucial phase lays the foundation for all further development work. Also, your role involves proposing or designing your own suggestions for design solutions and presenting recommendations and reporting status in various decision-making fora’s. Strong communication skills are essential in this cross-functional role, as you will build and maintain an extensive network throughout the company.
As the car industry enters a new era, you will also play a significant role in the transformation of the company and the Mechanical Architecture & System Design department in adapting to these changes. Therefore, a positive mindset, even when goals are not clearly defined, is a valuable competency.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide the concept development in your area.
  • Balancing of design solutions into the industrial phase.
  • Balancing geometric requirements and solutions.
  • Develop design proposals for technical solutions/manufacturing process in CATIA V5.
  • Perform benchmark studies on competitors.
  • Orchestrate Vehicle Integration meetings.
