Description:
Applications are invited for the position of Medical Education Fellow, based at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The vacancy is for those that are ideally able to start in August, or September 2024 for 12 months fixed term. The post is full time for 40 hours per week, and the salary will be defined by previous experience.
We are looking for an individual from any clinical discipline who is a fully registered medical practitioner, and has a keen interest in medical education. You should normally be in specialty training with a national training number.
The post is for a period of one year, either as an out-of-programme experience or a stand-alone experience. This post has been approved by the deanery. The post holder will be involved in the education of medical students from Years 1-5 of the University of Leeds, whilst supporting the Education Lead for Undergraduate Medical Education in the leadership and management responsibilities for a team of Junior medical education fellows and Post Foundation Doctors.
You will work collaboratively to contribute to various aspects of the delivery of Undergraduate Medical education within the Trust, with the foresight of the workforce plan.
This is essentially an undergraduate medical teaching post, although the post holder will be expected to play a role in the wider education department and contribute to the development of both medical and clinical education in the Trust.
Teaching will be based in classroom, and clinical settings and the post holder will also be expected to be able to deliver a wide range of clinical skills (e.g. history taking, clinical examination and deteriorating patient management).
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the assessment of learners – e.g through OSCE examinations.
The post holder will ensure high quality learning environments for all disciplines within a context of multi-professional education and training that is responsive to future changes.
The post holder will work closely with local Universities to collaborate on projects, and they will have the chance to represent the Trust at regional meetings.
The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the wider education department, and to maintain professional registration through scheduled clinical activity

Organising, planning and running of educational sessions for Medical, Physician Associates and other students, in addition to trust staff.
Delivery of education on a range of medical education curriculum topics and clinical skills.
Supporting with the leadership and management to a team of Junior Medical Education Fellows and rotating Post Foundation Doctors.
Facilitating innovative ways to teach, including in-situ bedside teaching, virtual teaching and simulation teaching.
Taking part in assessment and feedback of students’ clinical skills and examine in the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
Be responsible for a series of placement areas and will act as a link between these areas and the University of Leeds Medical School / University of Bradford Health Science School.
Being actively involved with the leadership of the service, and will work in collaboration with the Service Lead and Director of Undergraduate Education to provide strategic vision for the team.
You will also be part of the wider team within the Education Service helping to facilitate the educational requirements of the Trust as a whole
