Position Summary
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our CDN infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal network performance, security, and scalability. This position requires a deep understanding of network protocols, CDN technologies, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position reports to the Director of Network Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage robust network infrastructures to support our CDN services.
  • Optimize network performance and reliability by monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting network issues.
  • Collaborate with software development, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of network solutions.
  • Lead network architecture design and review sessions, providing expert insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including design diagrams, configuration details, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and implement measures to safeguard network infrastructure against potential threats.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in CDN and networking technologies, recommending innovative solutions to enhance our service offerings.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network incidents promptly to minimize service disruptions.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on large-scale CDN or ISP environments.
  • Strong expertise in network protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP), routing, and switching.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, etc.
  • Ability to turn up BGP with transits and public/IX peers
  • Understanding of OSI layers 1 through 3
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting ECMP and LACP
  • Management of data center cross connects
  • Experience with Ansible / BGP Anycast / BGP communities and traffic engineering / Kentik or netflow/sflow and Linux scripting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of leading network projects and delivering high-quality results.
