The Information Technology Division is actively seeking two Info Tech Analysts - Senior Network Engineer.

This position reports to the Network and Telecom Infrastructure Manager and serves as a staff senior networking engineer. This is professional work which involves engineering, design, configuration, monitoring, and maintaining all aspects of the City of Jacksonville’s WAN, LAN and MAN network and VoIP infrastructure and devices. Equipment manufacturers will be varied; however, Cisco is primarily utilized. Equipment types such as switches, routers, VoIP handsets, unified collaboration applications, contact center applications, voice gateways, and WI- FI/Wireless Access Points are utilized. The position oversees and leads projects including design, re-design, installation, implementation and configuration of networking devices and infrastructure for security and functionality. Must have a working knowledge of the Network Open Systems Model (OSI) and how it is designed to function within the network and applications. Holistic understanding of Datacenter Operations to interact with & manage carriers to implement new projects or commission new sites. Team Lead for escalated tickets, new and upgrade projects working with staff, customers, and vendors.

  • Must have a disciplined work ethic; be self-motivated and reliable.
  • Must be able to work independently or with little guidance, learn new technology processes and approaches used in service delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ten years of education and/or experience in enterprise network systems.
  • The individual must be proficient in MS Visio, Excel, and Word.

Preferred:

  • VoIP technologies in a mid to large sized environment preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Depending upon assignment, may be required to obtain specialized certifications.
  • Must pass the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background screening performed by the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office prior to appointment.
  • Within 30 days of appointment date to classification, acquire and maintain the appropriate level of Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification which corresponds to the job responsibilities. The level will be determined by current CJIS guidelines and may change periodically. Certification is obtained by successfully completing a web-based training course and test which covers physical security, incident response, the protection of information and other IT specific security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
