SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian health practitioner regulation agency (AHPRA)
  • Masters or doctor or qualification in clinical neuropsychology from and APS accredited course or equivalent
  • AHPRA approved area of practice in clinical neuropsychologist
  • Eligibility for membership of the College of neuropsychologists, Australian psychological Society
  • Sound theoretical knowledge of clinical neuropsychology including neuropsychological assessment, neurology, neuro pathology and neurobiology and interventions in acquired brain injury, mental health and alcohol and substance use disorders
  • AHPRA Board approved supervisor or eligibility to become Board approved supervisor

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our growing, supportive and friendly psychology team! As a senior clinical neuropsychologist, you will provide specialised assessment, diagnostic opinion, and treatment and management recommendations for adults across the lifespan who are experiencing complex mental health and cognitive concerns in a forensic setting. The role includes working with individuals experiencing a range of neuropsychiatric, neurocognitive, and neurodevelopmental disorders. You will also work collaboratively with psychologists, psychiatrists, and multidisciplinary teams in units across the hospital to conduct assessments, provide feedback and secondary consultation, and design, implement and evaluate individual and group treatment interventions. Supervision of students from postgraduate university psychology programs, training and support for staff, service development, and providing consultation and advice to stakeholders and other agencies are also key components of the role.

DUTIES:

Participates at various stages in the consumer pathway of care which may include initial assessment, treatment planning, risk assessment and discharge planning.

  • Conducts comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of the cognitive, behavioural, and emotional status of preferred consumers
  • Has the ability to make appropriate recommendations for the care and management of referred patients including interventions designed at cognitive and behavioural rehabilitation
  • Has a consultative and coordinating role regarding the ongoing development of relevant cognitive therapeutic programs across the hospital including contribution to program content delivery and its evaluation
  • Provides knowledge dissemination related to neuropsychology for hospital staff, consumers, and other relevant stakeholders?
