Description:

Verus Research is searching for a Senior Nuclear Test Engineer to perform research and development efforts across multiple technical areas, including radiation sources, nuclear technologies, and complex system integration and test efforts.
The primary role for the Senior Nuclear Test Engineer will be participation in and leading the development of testing requirements, test execution, and analysis of results from radiation testing on electronic and microelectronic parts and sub-systems. The Senior Nuclear Test Engineer is also expected to work collaboratively with teams of engineers and scientists to achieve integrated outcomes. The ideal candidate for the Senior Nuclear Test Engineer position will possess a strong mix of experience with radiation testing of electronic parts, the ability to work within and lead test teams, and the ability to communicate verbally and provide coherent written reporting of technical outcomes. Success in this exciting role will stem from:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • 5-10 years’ experience performing simulations, testing and analysis supporting radiation hardening of electronic devices and systems
  • An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Condensed Matter Physics, or Nuclear Engineering, or a bachelor’s degree with additional years of experience in lieu of advanced degree
  • Experience in testing electronics at accelerators, reactors, and pulse power facilities and utilizing the dosimetry and other diagnostics employed at these facilities
  • Experience in RF board design, grounding and shielding, high-frequency measurement techniques, and parametric semiconductor device measurements
  • Experience in measurement and characterization of radiation effects (photocurrent, TID, nDD, and SEE) in electrical devices
  • Familiarity with MIL-HNDBK-814 and MIL-STD-883, radiation transport codes, electrical circuit, waveform analysis, instrument control software, space and nuclear radiation environments
