  • Typically requires a Degree in Optical Engineer, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience or an Advanced Degree and a minimum of 3 years of prior engineering or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience designing visible or infrared optical systems.
  • Experience building, aligning, testing, and maintaining optical systems and optical equipment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) organization within RTX drives business success by providing a variety of critical engineering services across product lines and functions.
This position is focused on the development, integration, test, and maintenance of optical test equipment as a part of on-site factory support of test systems to support product testing. The selected candidate will work within the optical engineering group to develop EO/IR test requirements, equipment design, metrology requirements, and other related tasks for testing of optical systems in a production environment.
The selected candidate will contribute to multidiscipline engineering teams. Typical work involves the development of both engineering and production test equipment, performing IV&V of systems, and repair and maintenance of optical equipment. As such, the candidate will contribute to the completion of all stages of test product development for RTX test products. They will be expected to act, either as a part of their team or independently, to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of test systems.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Develop optical test requirements based on system level performance requirements.
  • Design optical test stations for production factory, customer sites, and engineering needs
  • Build and maintain optical test stations throughout the factory supporting multiple programs.
  • Troubleshoot hardware for test equipment development.
  • Communication within a larger engineering team and with functional and program leadership

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
