Description:

Under the direction of the Healthcare Equity Program Director serves as a key resource for advancing UCSF institutional capacity to identify disparities and reduce disparities in access, experience, and clinical outcomes. Core areas of scope will include:

  • Program management and improvement specialist for disparity improvement efforts deemed as critical to the organization
  • Partner and collaborate with the Co-Chairs of UCSF Health’s Health Equity Council, a committee that informs and influences health equity as an operational and strategic priority, to coordinate the
  • efforts of this body
  • Engage in education, knowledge transfer, and coaching of healthcare equity principles, tools, and behaviors aimed at engaging executives, senior leaders, and staff across all disciplines
  • Support of the Department of Quality and Patient Safety’s internal efforts to advance the integration of equity into our daily systems.

The Senior Organizational Consultant should offer content expertise in the foundational concepts of cultivating a communal culture and interpersonal relationships founded upon principles of diversity,
inclusion, equity, and belonging. The individual must be an exemplary model of our PRIDE values and consistently and equitably model desired behaviors. Additionally, the individual should offer content expertise in translating these skills to health systems operations, analytic strategies, and quality improvement. Recommends changes to policies, processes, and structure to improve UCSF Health’s ability to identify disparities and reduce disparities. Operates independently with a high degree of accountability and consistency and an ability to provide consistent, concise updates to Healthcare Equity Program Director and other leaders.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Department of Quality and Safety consists of Adult Quality & Safety, Benioff Children’s Hospitals (BCH) Quality & Safety, Hospital Epidemiology & Infection Prevention, Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness, Health Equity, and Clinical Documentation Integrity. The teams are made of multidisciplinary professionals with diverse backgrounds.
The role of the Department is to support UCSF Health to deliver safe, equitable, and high-quality care to the communities we serve.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care or other related profession, or a combination of comparable clinical education and / or experience.
  • Ten (10) years of work experience in health care or related field
  • Advanced project management and quality improvement skills.
  • Previous healthcare management experience in hospital or ambulatory settings with an understanding of important trends.
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols, and procedures.
  • Able to interpret and communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Requires a high degree of diplomacy, influence, and interpersonal skills to work effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of common organizational, research-specific, or other computer application programs.

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously, adapting approach as needed to ensure success.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, project planning, and implementation skills.
  • Demonstrates strong willingness to learn and continuously improve themselves.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in health care or other profession, or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience
  • Lean certification or equivalent
  • Project management
