Description:

Frimley Health Foundation Trust has an exciting vacancy for a Band 6 Senior Paediatric Dietitian, or a Band 5-6 developmental Dietitian, to join a paediatric dietetics team of 5 dietitians who support the paediatric service at Frimley Park. There may also be the opportunity for full time or alternative part-time hours.
The responsibilities within this role include the nutritional assessment and care of paediatric patients within the neonatal unit, children’s ward and in out-patient clinics. There is an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge within general paediatrics as well as gaining experience in areas such as gastroenterology and allergy and providing some information in virtual groups as well as
The paediatric dietetic work contributes towards best care approach and in turn the Frimley Health Foundation Trust strategy. This role will support this work and provide an opportunity to develop and practice skills within both inpatient and outpatient groups

Specialist clinical areas
To provide assessment, treatment and management of paediatric in- and outpatients, including knowledge and experience in oral and enteral nutrition.
To be an active member of multi-disciplinary teams for paediatric patients.
To work in partnership with paediatric dietitians to have regular clinical supervision.
To work closely with our community partners and tertiary centres to ensure safe and effective discharges and transfers of paediatric patients.
To co-ordinate and manage patient dietary information for the speciality
To act as an expert resource, providing dietetic advice and support to health care professionals working within paediatrics.
To support with the appropriate and timely triaging of outpatient referrals.
To support the paediatric team lead in maintaining relevant guidelines and pathways within this speciality
To support the paediatric team lead in the management of the inpatients on the children’s ward and neonatal unit
To be flexible in times of increased demand to the service and be willing to cover other areas of the hospital and work on other sites within Frimley Health NHS Foundation trust
Service development – audit, research and quality
To contribute to service development within paediatric services and to undertake audit and quality improvement projects as part of this role.
To monitor incidents within your clinical specialty and assist with incident investigation when required
Education
To supervise students and junior members of staff and provide shadowing opportunities on paediatric wards and in clinics.
Be willing to undergo, if required, training for student supervision and be part of a team of dietitians who supervise dietetic students on A, B and C placements and when required take on the lead supervisory role
