About the role
We are offering an exciting ongoing opportunity as Senior Parliamentary Officer in the Procedure Office. The Procedure Office provides support to the Chamber and senior officers within the Department and is the principal office responsible for answering inquiries from the Department’s customers. Your key responsibilities will be providing expert procedural advice and assistance to members and customers, analysing and checking bills, leading the writing and updating of the Legislative Assembly Practice Manual, and reviewing and publishing House documents. You will also undertake small procedural research tasks, coordinate procedural training of Office staff, provide support to the Clerk and manage projects within the Procedure Office, including the involvement of other Office staff.
About you
To succeed in the role, you will be able to manage competing complex tasks in a high-pressure environment. You will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to supervise staff to ensure timelines are met. You will have a sound understanding of the operations and practices of the Legislative Assembly of Victoria, including relevant legislation, practices and standing orders. Your written communication skills will be a strength, together with your capacity to undertake research and write succinctly and in an appropriate style.
