Description:

RFA’s residential mortgage lending business is operated by RFA Mortgage Corporation and RFA Bank of Canada, a federally regulated Schedule I Bank. RFA Mortgage Corporation specializes in Prime lending (Insured, Insurable, Uninsurable), while RFA Bank of Canada is a balance sheet based Alternative mortgage lender (Alt-A and B lending). Through building a competitive broker experience and solutions-oriented product suite, RFA’s goal is to be recognized and recommended by our mortgage broker partners, mortgagors, and other strategic partners, for our financing solutions and broker/client experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll entries two a quarter, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, transfers to disability or leave of absence, changes to employee information or deductions, etc.
  • Prior each payroll submission, review salary, benefits, RRSP and any other entries on payroll register against approved input documents; forward the payroll register audit trail and reconciliation to the person in charge for review and sign-off.
  • Review and process all employee information as it relates to the onboarding of new employees.
  • Complete data files for transmission to Ceridian prior to deadline; enter approved changes to Ceridian Payroll.
  • Book payroll expenses in a timely manner upon payroll being processed.Prepare monthly filings and annual reconciliations.
  • Maintain confidential payroll/benefits files for all employees; file documents in the files as required and ensure appropriate document retention.
  • Maintain and update a spreadsheet to track employee RRSP plan eligibility, enrolment and any changes.
  • Enter approved changes into benefit systems regarding group health benefits and the group RRSP, as required (new hires, terminations, any salary changes, dependent changes etc.); enter in Payroll as required.
  • Support or Process annual bonus payments and annual RRSP contributions as per the Company’s bonus cycle.
  • Respond to employee queries regarding health benefits and RRSP transactions, and notify the HR team of any issues requiring resolution.
  • Support or Prepare reports from the payroll system to provide statistical information to HR and management, such as numbers and locations of new hires and terminations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Canada Revenue Agency requirements for Federally and Provincially-regulated companies, and communicate updates or changes to the HR team in a timely manner
