Description:

We are actively recruiting for a highly motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to work in the Specialist Medicine Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team at St Mary’s Hospital. We are looking for an innovative and a highly skilled Physio who demonstrates passion for Specialist and Elderly Medicine, strong leadership skills, excellent communication and team management skills. You will provide expert assessment and treatment for patients on Endocrine, Hepatology and Gastroenterology and Elderly Medicine wards.
The aim of the post is to provide high quality physiotherapy to adults often with age related conditions and to deliver a patient centered service encouraging independence and control of their health. In providing this service, you will be expected to be professional, efficient, effective, and committed to Continuous Professional Development, contributing every day to making healthcare better. This post is static and provides physiotherapy input to the multi-disciplinary services based at St Mary’s Hospital (SMH).
You will closely work with 2 other Band 7’s ( 1 OT and 1 PT) and the Band 8a clinical lead physiotherapist. We have static and rotational therapists and therapy support workers in the team. You will manage a clinical caseload using an evidence based client centred approach to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. You will be responsible for developing and training junior staff and students.You will work closely with the specialist nurses, and other Allied Health Professionals to achieve service and Trust objectives. We work on a integrated therapy model and promoting skill sharing among the professions.
The post will attract an effective communicator with specialist acute and rehabilitation skills to work with older adults with complex needs, expertise and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and a flexible problem solving approach at a senior level. The role will combine clinical, educational, research, service development and line management skills to support the Multi-disciplinary services.You will have opportunities to be involved in management roles, such as recruitment and retention, sickness monitoring and complaints management. We strongly support Continuing Professional Development and you will be supported in the role by the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist.
The post holder will be a Senior Physiotherapist providing therapy assessment, treatment and interventions to assist with optimal transfers of care and discharge planning including specialist profession specific assessments and accessing other multidisciplinary specialist opinions where required. The service meets the needs of a multi-cultural and diverse population. As a senior member of a highly motivated Multi-disciplinary team they will be responsible for providing client-centred, goal orientated interventions to patients within the medicine wards. Their intervention will combine a wide range of skills including advanced risk assessment skills to deal with the variety of problems identified, including those with respiratory conditions. The objective is to maximise patients’ functional ability for the facilitation of optimal discharges as well as the prevention of inappropriate admissions and readmissions. They will assist the multi-disciplinary team and community teams by contributing to the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluation of Therapy input to the Acute Medicine pathways. Together with other senior staff they will act as a resource of advice to the rest of the Therapy service and wider multi-disciplinary teams. They will work 37.5 hours over seven days including the minimum weekends and bank holidays as per local rotas.
