As a seasoned Senior Policy Advisor, you’ll take the reins to provide strategic guidance, policy advice, and specialized knowledge to senior management to support decision-making. In this role, you will lead stakeholder consultations, conduct research and analysis, and develop policy options that meet division and ministry goals and mandates.

The Financial Institutions Policy Unit diligently conducts research and policy analysis to address important issues pertaining to credit unions, mortgage brokers, and life and health insurance.
In the midst of today’s rapidly changing global landscape, our team is committed to staying abreast of current affairs that shape these sectors. We recognize the significance of recent events and their impact on people and economies around the world, and we strive to develop practical policies that address emerging challenges.
Our focus extends to various areas, including credit union regulations, the evolving landscape of mortgage brokerage in the digital age, and the dynamic nature of the insurance industry within a globally interconnected context. Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $88,496.00 to $128,625.00 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Provide leadership on policy initiatives; organize/assign and supervise work; mentor and coach team members; and establish sound business planning and performance criteria
- Plan, lead and undertake research, analysis and development of policy options and strategies related to the insurance sector
- Provide policy expertise to senior management, the Deputy Minister and the Minister on developments and trends
- Lead and coordinate policy review and consultation processes with partner ministries, agencies, and stakeholders
- Identify and analyze trends in other jurisdictions
