Description:

  • Utilise your Analytical expertise to provide support and advice to the Ministerial Services, Policy Reform and Programs branch

  • VPS Grade 5: $106,534 - $128,897 plus superannuation.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • A tertiary qualification in a related discipline would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Senior Policy Officer, you will be responsible to ensure sound policy and strategy advice is provided to senior departmental executives including through key coordination activities.

SOME OF YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Leading, with limited direction, department-wide coordination and engagement activities that assist in the development of strategic coordination advice to relevant Ministers and departmental executives on a wide variety of issues
  • Providing sound expertise to a team working on key coordination activities, to ensure development of considered briefings, advice and delivery of project objectives
  • Ensuring that programs and projects are successfully delivered, through proactively identifying and managing project risks, and by designing and implementing systems and frameworks to effectively manage project deliverables

About You:As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with a particular ability to analyse complex policy issues and provide accurate and strategic advice
  • Sound knowledge of Government and of Cabinet and Parliamentary processes
  • The ability to translate strategies into programs or projects that enable achievement of outcomes required while defining governance e.g. success measures, roles and responsibilities, progress monitoring required to manage risks and maximise probability of success.
