    We are looking for a high performing Senior Policy Officer to join the Policy Team within Policy and Funding Reform and Intergovernmental Liaison Unit (PFR and ILT) in Government Relations Branch at the NSW Ministry of Health.
    The PFR and ILT Unit comprised of four streams within the Government Relations Branch and are collectively responsible for stewarding reform efforts with the Commonwealth and other States and Territories, developing innovative policy and system reforms, and securing high-level funding contributions from other jurisdictions for NSW.

PFR and ILT has a leadership role in negotiating and managing intergovernmental agreements and initiatives, including:

  • Addendums to the National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA)
  • Healthdirect Australia contractual arrangements
  • Cross border agreements, and
  • Funding agreements with the Commonwealth to deliver innovative models of care or facilitate contributions to certain major infrastructure projects or service enhancements.

The teams lead engagement with other jurisdictions, NSW central agencies and national bodies on complex intergovernmental issues and coordinates with relevant areas across NSW Health to support this work.
Senior Policy Officer, Policy team, Ongoing
We are looking for a candidate with experience developing and evaluating policy, a comprehensive understanding of machinery of government and an interest in NSW Health reform and the health funding landscape.
The Senior Policy Officer, Policy and Funding Reform role involves reviewing, analysing, editing, and coordinating responses to time sensitive, confidential, and complex issues in a busy, high-volume environment. The successful candidate will be able to review materials from a variety of lenses, taking into account policy objectives, impacts to the community, and wider political contexts. The role further requires ad-hoc responses to a range of policy issues that have national or strategic policy implications, requiring a solid understanding of the NSW health governmental priorities and broad political contexts.
The successful candidate will work with senior executives to proactively manage and strengthen the Health intergovernmental relationships between jurisdictions across Australia as well as critical relationships with NSW central agencies. In addition, team responsibilities encompass secretariat functions and management of Policy Directives. You will be pragmatic in your approach, display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have well developed conceptual and analytical ability combined with excellent organisational skills.

Crown Clerk Grade 9/10, starting salary from $120,859 - $133,183 p.a. (plus superannuation and annual leave loading)
