Description:
The Sr. Portfolio Manager, Business Process Engineering will be primarily responsible for working with various business lines within the organization to understand their core processes in an effort to help them determine the best way forward when using technology solutions to scale the business.
The Senior Portfolio Manager owns, drives, and manages a complex set of interrelated programs, products, and projects within their portfolio. As part of this role, the Senior Portfolio Manager, creates and manages overall governance, alignment, plan, and budgets for the portfolio as well as oversees the delivery of all components required for launching, monitoring, and reporting on the portfolio. This role will help the business and clinical teams communicate and deliver the necessary storylines to create understanding and buy-in across the executive team to gain approval and validate business case or value realization expectations.
This is a full-time, exempt position located in our Chesterbrook, PA office (remote employee acceptable) reporting to the Director, Business Process Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) preferably in Life Sciences, Business, Math, or IT discipline
  • Prince2/PMP Project Management Certification, SCRUM Master Certification, Agile Certification, and/or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred
  • 6+ years’ experience in managing programs and projects requiring detailed project planning, risk management, and resource/capacity planning
  • Direct interaction and communications with project stakeholders at a senior or executive level,
  • Previously held program management position (2+ years)
  • Considerable length of experience (2+ years) in managing large, multifaceted, $1M+ budgeted projects.
  • Previous experience as a Program Manager (2+ years) and/or Product Manager (2+ years) preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience (2+ years) preferred
  • Experience in leading a team in a GxP or regulated environment, performing a Scrum Master role in an Agile environment, evidence or project management via Prince2/PMP methodology, previous experience in applying Six Sigma and Lean tools, and/or previous experience in Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industries preferred
  • Waterfall and Iterative methodologies: methods, techniques, roles, and tools,
  • Business Analysis Methods
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal),
  • Ability to perform in-depth business and systems analysis
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills with a professional and flexible attitude
  • Ability to coach and mentor individuals on a team who are at peer level or below,
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with peers within the organization, effectively push back and ask questions that generate solutions (strong risk management skills)
  • Multi-national corporate knowledge preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the governance and alignment associated within the assigned portfolio:
  • Orchestrating the portfolio through creating/implementing structures, processes, roles, and procedures to control operations and changes
  • Delivering on the higher-level portfolio vision, goals, and objectives
  • Establishing governance structures that are communicated, understood, and adhered to
  • Ensure successful delivery of assigned portfolio and dependent programs and projects
  • Ensure communication, financial, and business readiness aspects of the programs/projects are appropriately managed.
  • Actively research and recommend industry practices as part of continual improvement
  • Perform monitoring activities, which includes regular reviews for usage of best practices for project management
  • Applies knowledge of project management best practices, experience of the Novocure environment, and understanding of expectations of stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities for the department
  • Ensure the implementation of communications is handled effectively and set expectations, including: stakeholder communications, team and sponsor communications, external source communications (vendors, contractors)
  • Actively engage in all levels of department communications
  • Ensure risk management procedures and best practices are utilized at all levels within the portfolio to identify, quantify, strategize, and mitigate risks
  • Coordinate with peers to assess training/monitoring needs across the BPE department
  • Serve as an effective mentor to BPE staff and other parts of the organization
  • Provide feedback to others managing programs/projects within assigned portfolio
  • Assist in the success of the portfolio by performing the following:
  • Advise on, and support the management of product backlog , features or projects for future development and implementation
  • Perform cross functional collaboration and leads teams effectively through challenging problem-solving circumstances
  • Ensure both operational and non-operational perspectives are considered within projects/programs (e.g., regulatory compliance, legal, finance, HR, marketing matters, etc.)
  • Support the engagement with vendors to set clear understanding of expectations
  • Develop a tailored approach to the portfolio to meet Novocure’s goals
  • Take on supporting activities as dictated by the needs of the department and the business
  • Be prepared to support travel as required based on project requirements
