Description:

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Fixed Income Portfolio Management, the Senior Portfolio Manager, Fixed Income will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Managing assigned fixed income and balanced portfolios, comprising Ringgit and non-Ringgit mandates within established investment guidelines to ensure risk and investment guidelines are in alignment with the targeted / client investment outcome or goal. To generate top tier investment performance, achieve client investment objectives and deliver on expected business results (ie. Profitability metrics).
  • For the management of balanced funds, communication and strategies with equity team to be conducted on regular basis to set the asset allocation of these funds.
  • Contribute and provide input to the development and implementation of investment processes, guidelines and procedures as and when necessary.
  • Preparation of monthly reports for institutional clients as required by each mandate. Additionally, to assist marketing team for any ad-hoc marketing / presentation requests by clients.
  • Contribute and generate new ideas / strategy to the fixed income team via monthly strategy meetings as well as to present and share ideas during bi-weekly credit committee meetings.
  • Preparation of monthly strategy slides and monthly reports for clients on a regular rotation basis between fund managers within fixed income.
  • Act as a spokeperson in client update meeting, due diligence meetings, final presentations with prospective clients and consultants, and in internal committees. Represent fixed income investment capabilities and competitive advantage to prospects and clients. Contribute client-driven and profitable product ideas and provide support to product development, product management, distribution and marketing as needed.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of financial markets, current events, economies and analyze the impact on industry/sector fundamentals. Monitor industry and competitive environment through research of market intelligence and insights to proactively identify new opportunities, trends, emerging issues or threats. Proactively develop and foster relationships with industry contacts to ensure constant flow of information.
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities and special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/ Accounting & Finance, or other related fields
  • License holder for Capital Markets Service Representative (CMSLR) issued by Security Commission
  • Minimum 7 years of investment experience with fixed income strategies in a trading, research, portfolio management capacity.
  • Proven ability to deliver top-tier investment performance, have deep knowledge of global economies and investment theories, fixed income investments, and related regulatory requirement.
  • Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong abilities in the areas of change management, tactical planning, decision making, communication, presentation and leadership.
  • Ability to make decision quickly and effectively in a highly competitive environment with incomplete information, use independent judgement, anticipate client needs and establish priorities needed.
