Let’s talk about this role
This a 12 month Fixed Term Contract as the Senior Portfolio Manager.
In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of programs of work with high operational complexity and technology enablement across a number of platforms/products within nib Travel. The role is also responsible for hands-on project management plus leading the Travel projects team with direct reports (Senior Project Manager, Business Analyst).
The portfolio of projects within Travel is scoped to deliver on business transformation and strategic objectives. You will provide advice and expertise to guide senior leadership and enable change. Additionally, the Senior Portfolio Manager performs task work focused on managing projects directly, planning, stakeholder communications, change, financials (cost and benefits) and Group reporting.
Working with multiple product and platform managers, the Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for leading a collaborative planning process across nib Travel’s operations and technical teams, prioritising scope to align to project objectives, proactively managing risks and cross stream dependencies and unblocking day to day issues for the team and ensuring proper governance.

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar senior role, with a track record of successful project delivery using different methodologies. You have experience leading and delivering projects, able to turn principles into practices for the team’s specific needs. Experience working in financial services (and in particular general insurance) is a plus.
Possessing strong leadership and people management skills, along with the ability to cultivate strategic partnerships and steer decision-making among executives and senior operational and technology leaders, will position you well for this role.

Furthermore, we’re looking for:

  • Able to facilitate the effective managing and continuous improving of project delivery using various methodologies
  • Strong problem solving and analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal), including the ability to conduct large group workshops and present to all levels of the organisation
  • Willingness to keep up to date with developments in project management, product delivery / information technology and the insurance industry
