Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

The EL1 Senior Advisor, Portfolio Monitoring and Control, is a critical management role within the STS Unit, supporting STS Portfolio activities to remain on track through program and project assurance processes. The Senior Advisor is dedicated to upholding standards across processes and outputs, meticulously documenting and coordinating any changes to baselined measures and managing risks and issues to prevent threats to successful delivery.
This role encompasses the establishment and oversight of risk and issue management, change control, quality management and program financial and budget management within the Portfolio. Through innovative thinking and leveraging technology, the incumbent will work proactively, driving efficiency and facilitating informed, evidence-based decision-making at the executive level.
The Senior Advisor will possess a strong background and proven expertise in portfolio, program assurance, project management, team leadership and priority management, and will successfully plan and execute assurance plans. This includes developing and maintaining Portfolio agency stakeholder engagement plans to ensure alignment and consistency across the STS Portfolio, partner agencies and broader STS Unit deliverables.
Leading a small team, this role ensures stakeholder engagement is robust across the STS Portfolio, providing professional expertise, leadership and assurance over the STS Program and Projects. This role is essential for driving alignment and consistency across the STS portfolio, underpinned by agreed project and program management standards, frameworks and methodologies.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensuring that all Portfolio processes and outputs adhere to established standards, including the documentation and coordination of changes to baselined measures.
  • Leading efforts in Risk and Issue Management, Change Control and Quality Management to ensure the Portfolio remains positioned to deliver its outcomes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on financial status and performance against budget to support strategic decision-making and financial sustainability.
  • Facilitating effective communication and collaboration among Program and Project teams within the STS Unit Portfolio.
  • Provide assurance and compliance oversight by maintaining the integrity of the STS Portfolio by ensuring all processes, changes and outputs rigorously adhere to established standards and methodologies.
  • Manage documentation and information by preparing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation to facilitate effective reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Facilitate strategic stakeholder engagement leading engagement efforts and ensuring cohesive collaboration across the Portfolio and with external partners and agencies.
  • Lead and manage a team by guiding and supporting the Portfolio Oversight team, fostering an environment that encourages innovation, efficiency and alignment with the broader STS reform goals.
