If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.
The Portfolio Monitoring Manager will report to the Head of Portfolio – Private Credit and help manage the Private Credit debt portfolios, which include Direct Lending and Infrastructure asset classes. Duties involve overseeing investment performance, creating client reports, and playing a key role in maintaining the investment portfolio. The position will be supported by two Portfolio Monitoring Analysts to ensure proper monitoring and management of the investment portfolio. This opportunity allows for collaboration with the investment team and exposure to different business functions.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain regular communication with portfolio companies to evaluate their financial needs, conditions, and business opportunities/risks, ensuring effective oversight and early risk detection within the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with investment teams to ensure efficient portfolio monitoring and accessible information for internal and external stakeholders in suitable formats.
  • Monitor compliance with policy, risk limits, and investment regulations for transactions, while overseeing key performance indicators and financial performance of portfolio loans.
  • Coordinate the production of accurate and timely quarterly investor reporting, internal reports, valuation data and returns data through close collaboration with middle office, back office, and external service providers.
  • Support fundraising activities by providing data/analysis and conducting ad hoc analysis for key stakeholders as needed.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience gained in the Private Credit market, particularly within Infrastructure, is highly valued. Familiarity with financial products and hedging applications is advantageous.
  • Proficient credit analysis skills are crucial.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities for interacting with clients and teams, are necessary.
  • Solid analytical skills, including experience with financial models and knowledge of investment appraisal basics, are essential.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Project Management is vital. A CFA qualification is a plus but not required.

This role is based in London.
