Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Applications are invited for the role of Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Environmental Research Institute.
JustCities Hub is an EPA-Funded based project which is fundamentally about imagining city life in a way that embraces the challenges of climate action and promotes stable, just, and healthy urban environments. The transdisciplinary project based in the Environmental Research Institute is being realised by a core project team comprising Dr Niall Dunphy, Dr Alexandra Revez, Dr Gerard Mullally, and Professor Brian Ó Gallachoir.
The JustCities Hub project aims to use engaged research to directly contribute to urban climate policy by improving collaborative scientific and public service expertise in sustainable transitions centred on principles of justice, resilience, and community vibrancy. The project has five objectives:
1. Rethinking frameworks for delivering urban sustainability through partnership, experimentation, and service provision.
2. Critically reviewing existing climate action service infrastructure for supporting just transitions at city level.
3. Mobilising and supporting innovation through small transdisciplinary action-based interventions.
4. Developing a shared understanding of assets and opportunities for a just transition in the city underpinned by a commitment to deliberative engagement and transdisciplinary learning.
5. Developing an integrative model for climate engagement that supports and enables a diverse and vibrant democracy in the city.
We are seeking a part-time Senior Post-doctoral Researcher (0.5 full-time equivalent) to work on this exciting project. The successful candidate will have a strong background in sustainability or low carbon transitions research. Experience of community-based research would be advantageous.
