Are you a seasoned Estimator with a knack for precision and excellence? Primoris Water & Mechanical is on the lookout for a talented Senior Power Estimator to join our team in Houston, TX!
As a Senior Power Estimator, you’ll play a crucial role in our diverse range of Power and Industrial construction and EPC projects. From site preparation to underground electrical and piping, power generation equipment to instrumentation and control estimation, you’ll be at the forefront of creating and executing accurate estimates.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 plus years of experience estimating industrial projects in the construction industry.
  • 5 plus years estimating power generation projects.
  • Strong background in site preparation, underground electrical and piping, power generation equipment (combustion and rotating equipment), piping, and E&IC estimation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and office programs such as Hard Dollar, Heavy Bid, MS Project, Primavera, SharePoint, and Egnyte.
  • Familiar with project controls.
  • Capable of project planning (sequencing) and work packaging.
  • Ability to travel to project sites to understand construction sequence, means and methods, site conditions and perform time-studies: approximately 10% of the time.
  • Understand impactful commercial terms and conditions, i.e.: liquidated damages, insurance requirements, liability, risk categories, etc., and how to assign price to each.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelors or better in Construction Management Services or related field
  • Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field

Responsibilities:

  • Estimate projects in accordance with Primoris Policies and Procedures.
  • Lead estimating win strategy and implementation efforts.
  • Market awareness for overall project ‘right price’ presentation (i.e. $/kW).
  • Manage workload scheduling to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Lead risk review process.
  • At times travel to clients and/or sites for presentations and site walks.
  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Delegate, assign or prepare discipline estimates that calculate complete takeoff of scope of work.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
  • Analyze regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications.
  • Review and confirm estimating takeoffs provided by their Estimating team, Engineering and CAD designers.
  • Review and confirms quotations from vendors and subcontractors provided by their Estimating team.
  • Mentor Estimators and Junior Estimators to assist in their development and professional growth.
  • Presents to leadership their own estimates and provides supervisory support for estimates prepared by their team.
  • Responsible for cost history, data base management and estimating process.
  • Review documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work.
  • Gather and prepare ‘Value Engineering’ and recommendation list for project improvement, recognized scope gaps, or optional pricing.
  • Develop estimate clarifications and exceptions lists.
