Responsibilities:
The Senior PR and Communications Manager will continue to develop the reputation and brand of Mayer Brown EMEA as a firm of choice for premium legal advice and continue to build on its recognition for delivering exceptional client service across our key priority markets and sectors.
The purpose of the role will include:
- Directing the media relations and communications function within the business development team;
- Helping to shape, direct and execute Mayer Brown EMEA external and internal communications plans;
- Taking the lead role in media relations and crisis management;
- Shaping and demonstrating ROI from our communications activity;
- Management of PR Executive
- Local oversight of marketing, design and CRM functions
Key Responsibilities include:
- Working with the Senior Partner and Head of BD to develop the media relations strategy for the London office primarily and the wider EMEA region;
- Working with practice group BD managers to deliver media profile for Mayer Brown lawyers;
- Identification of media profile-raising opportunities aligned to our priorities
- Managing a PR Executive and oversight of wider marketing team in London;
- Working with the BD Director EMEA, US PR Director, and Senior Partners across EMEA, to produce and deliver a marketing programme which develops the Mayer Brown brand and establishes a clear market understanding of “Why Mayer Brown”;
- Working with the Director of BD EMEA and BD managers, to develop and deliver marketing plans supporting the practice groups;
- Act as custodian of the Mayer Brown brand and ensure compliance with brand guidelines in all collateral;
- Ensure external communications are managed from a risk perspective;
- As a key member of the global PR team, contribute to and help develop global communications campaigns and strategies;
- Management and direction of external media relations agency. To direct the media relations and communications function within the business development team;
- To help shape, direct and execute Mayer Brown EMEA external and internal communications plans;
- Take the lead role in media relations and crisis management;
- To shape and demonstrate ROI from our communications.
Qualifications:
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent;
- Extensive professional experience in PR and marketing;
- Law or professional services (or similar matrix organization) firm a plus
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Must be an established public relations professional with strong media contacts and relationships;
- Must be commercial and understand the ROI mechanisms for PR, marketing and communications;
- An understanding of the legal market and how legal firms operate;
- Knowledge of and expertise in the current PR trends and tools to monitor media, create strong lists and measure key performance indicators;
- Experience managing and/or working in an outside public relations or integrated marketing communications agency;
- Ability to be persuasive with senior stakeholders in complex environments.
