Senior Process Engineer

In this role, you will support APT’s innovation portfolio across the North America potash operations. This includes research support in new product development, new technology landscaping and chemical processing. You will lead and contribute to all work phases, from feasibility and laboratory development through to full scale industrial implementation. You will have the opportunity to work with all potash sites to address key strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will be experienced working in both industrial chemical processing, and industrial experimentation in laboratory and pilot plant settings. You will actively promote the synthesis of science and engineering to seize opportunities in timely, cost effective, and innovative ways. The candidate will lead the deployment, integration and sustainability of all APT projects throughout the potash business, including supervision of multi-site projects and team members.

What will you do?

  • Act as the cultural and technical leader of the potash team.
  • Lead APT activities in both laboratory and full-scale operations.
  • Drive best practices in scientific experimentation to produce trusted results.
  • Support sites in achieving goals that are of importance to the potash business by providing technical resources, assessing execution plans of major innovative projects, contributing to design reviews, critical communications, and change management coaching.
  • Actively engage with operations, engineering, and functional groups to share learnings and build collaborative networks.
  • Manage risk and remove barriers to ensure completion of project milestones, on time and on budget, for direct reports and project teams.
  • Teach and mentor the research team on project execution where complex multi-department coordination is needed for successful implementation.
  • Ensure regulatory, safety and environmental standards are adhered to, supporting Site safety programs and risk assessments.
  • Continuously search for novel technologies that could provide step change improvement to aspects of mining, mineral processing, and product development.
  • Promote innovation with internal and external audiences, representing Mosaic and APT with a high degree of integrity.
  • Expand knowledge of Mosaic mining processes across varying product lines and geographies to enable strategic thinking and creative problem solving.

What does the ideal candidate have for this role?

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, mining, or similar).
  • 8+ years of relevant industrial experience in a chemical or mining operation with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Passionate about solving challenging problems using innovative solutions.
  • Very strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills (without authority), with ability to use fact-based and well-thought-out arguments to challenge all levels or change behavior/techniques, as required.
  • Strong technical and non-technical writing required, able to strategically tailor communications to different audiences and levels across the organization.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, train and motivate a wide range of employees.
  • Incumbent must be a good verbal communicator.
  • Must be highly motivated, self-directed, curious, and value continuous learning and development.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams is an asset, as is exposure to related programs such as Power App and other data visualization tools.
