JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

Reporting to the Process Coordinator-Operations, the successful candidate, will be responsible for the supervision, control & organising of the Operations staff under his/her control in order to ensure that potable water complies with SANS CODE 0241 class 1 and Rand Water Production Standards and that the supply of water to customers are met. The incumbent will be overall responsible for the pumping and water purification processes. In addition the incumbent will be responsible to do HT switching/lockouts, pump set lockouts and pipeline isolations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Water Care or equivalent OR Process Supervisor-Water purification with five years’ experience.
• A valid Code B drivers’ license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 Test.
• Seven Years combined experience in a plant, pumping, water purification as well as supervisory environment is essential.
• Registered or eligible to register as a Class V Process Controller

KNOWLEDGE

• Sound knowledge of Operational procedures and regulations. • Water purification and treatment process • Operation of HV electrical equipment, dosing pumps and large pumping units • Fault finding • Knowledge of OHS act and its application • Knowledge and application of ISO14001 and ISO9001

SKILLS

• Good communication skills (both spoken and written) • Computer literate • Good interpersonal skills. • Mentoring & coaching • Administrative • Computer literate • Analytical skills to do fault finding and problem solving • Conflict resolution • Problem solving • Good leadership and sound labour relations skills

The critical functions will include: • Raw water abstraction and to ensure that the flocculation, coagulation, disinfection and filtration processes comply with the Rand Water and SANS standards set. • Raw Water Abstraction by controlling water into Site via canal or intake pump • Control of the water purification and distribution plant. • To ensure that the daily pumping orders are met. • Perform switching & plant lock outs as well as pipe line isolations. • Daily and monthly reports and statistics. • Supervision of staff and to ensure compliance with regards to occupational health and safety aspects. • Maintaining good labour relations in the section.
