As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll work closely with your product team to learn about the business challenges our customers face, imagine valuable and viable solutions, rapidly prototype and test user experiences, and deliver polished artifacts for development. Expect to tackle design challenges of all sizes: from composing the perfect label for a form field to guiding executive decision-makers on strategies for boosting customer retention.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of hands-on professional experience designing for digital products in an agile environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with strong analytical and interpersonal abilities.
  • A strong product design portfolio that reveals your skills and craftsmanship. Highlight key choices you made and the reasons behind them, demonstrating your design expertise.
  • Deep expertise using UI/UX design, prototyping, and collaboration tools. We primarily work in (and love) Figma, but we’re always interested in discovering new capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the front-end development technologies behind the web. You should be able to predict whether a solution can leverage existing user interface elements, patterns, and components, or if it demands custom development.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct generative and evaluative research to discern user needs and behaviors.
  • Translate findings and insights into usable, effective, and accessible user experiences.
  • Identify product opportunities, write user stories and acceptance criteria, and provide thoughtful, creative solutions that apply knowledge of your product area and the business context.
  • Drive design strategies for larger projects and problem spaces that align with business goals and user needs. Actively participate in strategic discussions, influencing the product roadmap and vision through your insights.
  • Partner with Product Management to lead projects and teams, motivating and empowering others. Provide mentorship for less experienced colleagues.
  • Explore how emerging AI technology can empower our merchants with superhuman capabilities.
  • Communicate ideas verbally and visually through concept designs, flow diagrams, wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Organize workshops and activities that encourage collaboration, bringing different stakeholders together to align on common goals and drive strategic decision-making.
  • Attend scrum team rituals, including backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Apply Recurly’s design system to solutions, contribute to new components and patterns, and oversee its implementation.
  • Continuously pursue advanced knowledge and expertise in the field.
  • Represent our team as a strategic thought leader, advocating for user-centric solutions in cross-functional meetings and plans.
