POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior level Product Review Engineer to support Boeing Global Services in San Antonio, TX. The Boeing Defense Production Engineering Organization is seeking Liaison Engineers to support commercial derivative airplane programs in San Antonio. We are looking for proactive individuals who can make quick engineering decisions and who want go beyond their desk and sit the factory for hands on engineering. This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, partnering closely with production personnel.
The candidate will be assigned to first shift, with second shift rotations, as well as weekend or daily overtime.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Previous MRB (material Review Board) experience and certification either with Boeing or other Aircraft company
  • 5+ years of experience with the Repair Methodology design of structural and electrical rework/repairs to restore the aircraft or system to original design capability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Experienced in reading/creating Engineering drawings, specifications, processes and design manuals.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience with any of the following: avionics systems troubleshooting, wire bundle installations, and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting
  • Experienced in researching engineering designs in order to develop defect solutions to product/ process issues for production or simple technical in-service issues.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience of assisting with analyses, root cause analysis and drafting dispositions for non-conformances.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience collecting, researching, and evaluating issues for product/process improvement opportunities that may include recurrent product issues
  • Materials Review Board (MRB)/ Universal Product Review (UPR) approval authority certification.
  • Executive interior installation/design experience.
  • Modification & Repair experience on wide body aircraft.

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor’s and 9 or more years’ experience, Master’s with 7 or more years’ experience or PhD with 4 or more years’ experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET accreditation standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies broad knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles.
  • Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle. Leads research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and designs interim and final engineering solutions.
  • Leads others to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design non-conformances.
  • Develops and implements product/process improvements.
  • Uses innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions and to detect deviations.
  • Analyzes reported problems for potential safety issues; recommends and manages complex resolution. Leads develop of interim and final solutions.
  • Provides design phase subject matter expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.
  • Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment.
  • Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.
  • Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Leads activities for on-site disabled product repair teams and accident investigation or support teams.
  • Designs appropriate jacking and shoring schemes.
  • Leads the design of interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis.
  • Develops and leads non-destructive test procedures, tools and standards.
  • Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.
  • Develops and implements technical training curriculum for internal or external customers.
  • Support all Structural and/or Electrical Liaison Engineering/Design Engineering role as needed to support the Commercial, Military, and Commercial Derivative aircraft fleets on contract for modifications, storage, annual and time based life cycle checks.
  • Platforms being supported will be Executive Transport Fleet comprised of 747.
